“I saw things I never thought I’d see and I felt like I was finally doing something”
I was first interested in doing this trip when we had a presentation at my school. I went home and told my mom and asked if I could go but I thought that because it cost $3600 she would say no… but I was wrong. When she said yes I got extremely excited and emailed Garry right away.
Then my mom told (my sister) Mary and she wanted to go too. I was not happy about that at the time but it all worked out great. My mom was so happy and jealous that before I knew for sure I was going she started fundraising. When the time grew nearer, I became excited and I started packing early. I was very nervous about flying but I overcame that fear and got on that plane to New York and the plane to London and Warsaw and from Cracow to London again and New York again and finally Halifax and now I love flying and I can’t wait to do it again!
Touring London was absolutely amazing. I saw things I never thought I’d see and I felt like I was finally doing something that did not involve sitting at home being bored. It feels very good!
I absolutely love Europe, it is so much better than Canada in every way. The food, the scenery the “SHOPPING” is just awesome. If I had the chance, I would do it all again and again but all the times I did it again it would never be the same without the chaperones that we had, they provided the laughter for this trip and this is still the most amazing thing I have and probably ever will do in my life.
Just seeing kids my age that are dying and sick and hospitalized makes me think... Wow I take everything for granted I still will take things for granted but definitely not as much as before this trip.
…All the children we have helped, going to London, Auschwitz, Warsaw… none of this would be possible without you. Thank you!
