“They have helped me in my life more than I have helped them”
The beginning of the Journey of LOVE was life changing. I have never been to French communities, much less to ones as big as Montréal or Paris. Both cities were inspiring and gave me additional goals to live for. In fact, Paris was so moving that I was close to tears often and I’ve decided I must return again soon. I felt that I had been given so much in such little time that by the third day, I felt it was time to go home.
When we traveled to Warsaw in Poland I was in absolute shock with what was around me. I’ve never traveled so far before, and as a result, I felt that my world around me had grown beyond my wildest dreams. However, halfway through the trip, I found it harder to keep working. I had been very emotionally drained at this point and it got progressively harder to go on. I knew I must keep going and I drove myself farther and farther to a point formerly thought to be unfathomable.
One of my favorite parts of the trip was the hospitals, especially the catholic children’s hospital. Also, there were three exceptional children I found on the trip, defying their terminal diagnosis and living their lives the way they should, which lifted me higher than the clouds. Those kids are, perhaps, the most inspirational people in the world.
I know I’ve changed the lives of terminally ill children in Poland and this trip has changed my life. However, I believe that by meeting those children in Poland, they have helped me in my life more than I have helped them.
