“Someone has put me here to do something big with my life”
Thank you. Even though I’m sure you’ve heard it more than a million times, this trip has affected and touched my life in so many different ways. When we attended the meetings and met at the airport on an early rainy morning, I was sure that I was flying to Poland to help children and make their dreams come true. I didn’t have any idea in the world what was actually about to hit me in the face. I slowly realized you were taking me to see and do things I could never have the chance to do on my own. Seeing the sights in London made me feel like I was dreaming, and touching down in Poland I was preparing myself for hard, sad experiences I was sure to come next. The second wish we granted touched my heart in a place I never knew existed. This happy, beautiful girl seemed so happy and helpless when I looked in her eyes. All I could think of was why her, and not me?
All the small changes these kids made in my heart added up to one big change on the last couple of days. I hoped with every wish that I would stay in their hearts as they will always have a huge place in mine…
The most important thing I realized on this trip was whose dream really came true. The children did get their last wishes and were very happy, but no material thing they received helped as much as this trip helped me to realize where I want my life to go from here. Rather than the children running from death, they embraced their lives and let go of the time limits they were given. If only I could grasp that lesson in my hands, then I would fulfill my life like I never thought before… I feel as if I have looked death in the face before, and now instead of being scared I am motivated. Someone has put me here to do something big with my life, and I have never tried so hard to reach out for that as I have been during and will do after this trip.
I appreciate everything you have helped me to reach in my life from this trip and thank you for going out of your way to help me and not judge me.
You are an amazing person and you are doing amazing things and touching so many lives every day, and the changes I have felt are something I never thought I could reach. I hope every day you feel how many lives you have touched and whose hearts you have helped heal.
This trip was truly exciting, moving, motivating, touching, empowering, and just plain amazing. Thank you for helping get back the life I had felt was draining from me before. Thank you. Love.
