“I know every kid has written this, but it was humbling”
Poland. Hmm, well to start it off, Europe is glorious. We had amazing weather, and, with the exception of the
university dorm and rooming with some creepy-crawlies, the sleeping accommodations were great.
Every morning we’d get up, not knowing what kind of day we’d have. But we knew we’d drive a fair bit, we’d
probably eat some fries and we’d hear a rendition of Tiny Tim’s “Tiptoe through the Tulips” at least once. We’d
know that we’d be given the chance to make a terminally-ill child’s day and make them smile, even when these
days seem numbered.
And that’s the thing that people don’t understand. We don’t have the tools to prolong lives, technically. But they
say that laughter’s the best medicine, Everyone dies, right? But these kids don’t even get the opportunity to live life
nearly to the extent that we do.
It’s disgusting that so many healthy people are wasting their lives. Obesity is just confusing the heck out of me
right now. All the heroic kids I got to meet would give up so much for a chance to live a normal life.
I know every kid has written this, but it was humbling.
If you pooled all of the money in the USA and dispersed it evenly, to each and every person throughout the world,
everyone would have 19 billion dollars each!
