“I am so happy that I took part in this trip because no trip could possibly be better”
The Coalition for Kids International’s Journey for a Lifetime was definitely not what I expected it to be. I expected to meet some nice kids who are sick and drive around Poland, but it was so much more than that.
The children we met were so happy and excited to see us and it made me feel great that I could help grant their wishes. Even though I couldn’t understand what they were saying, I knew that they were grateful for their simple gifts. What surprised me the most was how mentally strong the children were. Even though they knew that they are terminally-ill they act like happy, normal kids. I don’t know how I would cope if I was in their situation. I grew attached to so many of the kids in such a short amount of time because they were each so special and they made me smile.
The most important and definitely the best part of the trip was seeing the children but the fact that we were in Europe made it even better.
The countries we visited were amazing. The city of London was so beautiful and it was amazing to see so many famous places I’ve only ever seen in pictures. My favorite place in Poland was in the Carpathian Mountains. The mountains went on forever and they were scattered with tiny colorful houses. It was awesome to learn about other countries. During the whole trip we had to keep asking each other if we were actually in Europe… and we were!
It is impossible to describe this trip to anybody who hasn’t actually been on this trip because I’ve learned so much, seen so many places and met so many incredible people. I suggest anybody to take part in one of these trips because it will definitely stay with you for the rest of your life. I am so happy that I took part in this trip because no trip could possibly be better.
