"The best adventure we have ever been involved with …"
September 15, 2008.
The CFKI ‘Journey for a Lifetime’ experience has been for Sara, Darlene, and myself, quite simply the best adventure we have ever been involved with.
For Sara at 15 years old, the thought of making a trip to Poland to meet and be with kids less fortunate fascinated her from the start. She wanted to learn more about CFKI and what it was really about. The whole idea of what the group does grew on Sara and she really began to feel confident that perhaps she could be chosen to make the trip.
For Darlene and I we just wanted to support Sara. It seemed like a great opportunity for her educationally and in general, so together we all attended CFKI info meetings at her school - which led to a series of personal meetings with the CFKI team.
We also did several CFKI background checks, which in retrospect seems kind of silly, knowing now what we didn’t then, but just part of the job of being a parent I suppose. In a week or so, it became clear that CFKI was a good thing, and fortunately for Sara, she was chosen to be a member of the August 2008 group.
This is where Sara’s Journey began.
Through the trip planning stage Sara, Darlene and myself began to understand that lifelong bonds were being grown with Coalition for Kids International, the girls, the families, and the kids in Poland.
We also quickly began to realize that CFKI is a unique team of highly skilled, highly motivated, and caring people with the simple goal of making it possible for sick and healthy kids to simply share some of their time together.
The dedication and detail that CFKI puts into what is being done for all these kids is quite amazing, a truly admirable project.
Sara had a fabulous educational fact and fun-filled trip which has now been completed, the memories and experiences of which she will carry her entire life.
Our respect and committment to you all at CFKI remains ongoing and the same as always.
